The Lake, on a May evening (2)

Uploader's Comments

A fine body of water, in a somewhat remote, inaccessible location. Despite its name, the Lake has industrial origins, and seems to be a vast mill-pond, dammed at its eastern end. According to the listing text for nearby Park Mill Farmhouse there was an iron foundry here in the late 16th century http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-424179-park-mill-farmhouse-plaistow and what looks like an old millrace still exists.
