The name of the loch is uncertain as it doesn't appear to written anywhere and there is uncertainty about whether it is Pullars or Poolers, or whether there is an apostrophe in the name. Beyond the loch is Brei Wick and part of Lerwick, with Gilbert Bain Hospital being the largest and most prominent building.
