A complete lack of signage, coupled with no physical evidence of a path, made it impossible to tell on which side of the hedge the public footpath was supposed to be. Since I could not spot a way out of the field from either side, I guessed the near side in this photograph, and mercifully turned out to be correct, reaching the road on the horizon without falling into the ditch beside the hedge.
