The Grove, Norfolk

View out of the entrance of an old lime kiln

Uploader's Comments

There are three post medieval lime kilns in this area, all still in good condition despite the fact that according to the Norfolk Industrial Archaeology Society one is atrociously built, and all three are being undermined by burrowing rabbits. The site is mentioned in White's Directory (1854) and in Kelly's (1875 and 1892) and marked on 1905 25ins OS maps but it is presumed that chalk extraction had stopped by then.
