Stile End, Cumbria

Stile End summit

Uploader's Comments

The summit of Stile End is obvious and is marked by a tiny pile of stones and a bare patch of grass. The fell is not featured in Wainwright's Pictorial Guides despite only having 8 metres less altitude than the adjacent Barrow and a few more less than Outerside to the west, both of which are included in his guides. The fell is however included in the TuMPs list (hills with a 30 metre prominence) and Bill Birkett's Complete Lakeland Fells. Bassenthwaite Lake and the Skiddaw group of fells can be seen in the background.
