This photograph shows a view of a line-side fire on the Settle-Carlisle railway. Flames can be seen on the far-side of the cutting through which the north-bound freight train has just passed. The fire was caused by a steam train that passed along this stretch about ten minutes before the picture was taken. Three fire-engines came to put the fire out. The picture was taken from the B6479 road looking in a north-north-easterly direction towards the River Ribble.
