Green daffodil in Brede High Woods

Uploader's Comments

This is a green-flowered form of Narcissus 'Telamonius Plenus' or 'van Sion' A. M. Kirby in his 1907 book 'Daffodils, Narcissi and How to Grow Them' wrote "Another vagary of the Double Van Sion is its tendency to produce flowers tinged with green and sometimes almost all green." One or two 'greens' grow here among other single and double daffodils in what was probably the garden of Meadowlands, demolished around 1930. The green-flowered form appears to be uncommon except in northern Scotland up to Shetland where it is fairly well-known.
