Looking north east along a jumbled cliffline much altered by landslips. It seems incredible that a railway was constructed through this area c1880. The keen eyed might just spot the tiny black smudge that is the portal of an old railway tunnel [above the 2 tallest spikes of grass in the foreground], the line running towards the photo position before entering another tunnel which emerges nearer to Sandsend. None of this is obvious on modern OS maps.
