Pond and Shelter west of Moel Arthur

Uploader's Comments

A spring-fed stream rises on the west side of Moel Arthur and flows down the gentle valley slope to the right of the photo, feeding into this small pond where it crosses the bridleway which contours around on the SW of the ridge carrying Offa's dyke path. The bridleway seems much favoured by mountain bikers, though the number of gates to be opened and closed must be a bit tiresome for them. At least it is out of the bitter December wind which must have been equally challenging for the occupants of Moel Arthur and Penycloddiau, the iron-age hill forts which dominate the skyline hereabouts.
