Gedney: St Mary Magdalen - the tower

Uploader's Comments

Most of the 86ft-tall tower dates from c. 1280, the top stage, with its ogee-hooded bell-openings, from the 15th century. The original intention was for a 40-50ft spire in addition, but the tower is topped by what Nikolaus Pevsner described as "a little lead spike...the one disappointment of Gedney".
