Some interesting things cropped up looking at old maps here. Even the current 1:25,000 shows more woodland here than there is now. Also the old provisional 1:25,000 shows a fir, suggesting a drover's landmark. The B4204 almost certainly follows a major droving route being a direct line from the border to Worcester.
