Rough hawkbit near Ashburnham Forge

Uploader's Comments

Vast numbers of rough hawkbit (Leontodon hispidus) grow in the ancient hay meadows by the footpath running north from Ashburnham Forge. They contain many other wildflowers and are carefully managed by the local estate. Ancient meadows of this type are becoming increasingly scarce and have taken many years, if not centuries, to reach their full wildlife potential while remaining a useful source of hay and pasture.
