The lower, and mostly dead, branches of many of the larch trees alongside this forest track in Kinloch Forest are covered with a thick growth of Usnea lichen. The lichens will not grow in polluted air - clearly they have no pollution problem here. Lichens are also growing on some healthy birch trees nearby (See [[[3788642]]]).
