Coupar-Angus, market town and par. with ry. sta., partly in Forfarshire but chiefly in Perthshire, near river Isla, 15¾ miles NE. of Perth, 63 miles N. of Edinburgh, and 79 miles NE. of Glasgow -- par., 4699 ac., pop. 2816; town, pop. 2154; P.O., T.O.; 3 Banks. Market-day, Thursday; has mfrs. of coarse linen fabrics. There are vestiges of an abbey, founded in 1164 upon the site of an old Roman camp.
